Seventeen years ago, an eclipse cloaked the kingdom of Relhok in perpetual darkness. In the chaos, an evil chancellor murdered the king and queen and seized their throne. Luna, Relhok’s lost princess, has been hiding in a tower ever since. Luna’s survival depends on the world believing she is dead.
But that doesn’t stop Luna from wanting more. When she meets Fowler, a mysterious archer braving the woods outside her tower, Luna is drawn to him despite the risk. When the tower is attacked, Luna and Fowler escape together. But this world of darkness is more treacherous than Luna ever realized.
With every threat stacked against them, Luna and Fowler find solace in each other. But with secrets still unspoken between them, falling in love might be their most dangerous journey yet.
With lush writing and a star–crossed romance, Reign of Shadows is Sophie Jordan at her best.

 THE AUDIOBOOK.

This is the first time i ever listened to an audiobook and i was pretty anxious because i didn't really know if i would pay attention or if i'd just get sidetracked,

When i first started listening to the audiobook there was this really cool mysterious/creepy music that was played and instantly i was won over! That small little snippet of music just set the background of the story in an instant! Perfectly chosen music-i was instantly gripped!

I am so happy to say i absolutely LOVED my experience with Estories!!!!! They have an amazingly wide range of YA books and i had such a hard time choosing but i finally chose Reign Of Shadows because it caused quite a hype and i never read it. But seriously their options are amazing!!! Go check them out here

The narrators were absolutely perfect! Phoebe Strole read out Luna's POV perfectly! Her voice really echoed Luna's innocence and gentleness. Luna was a pretty fragile character since she'd been living in a tower all her life but she had that underlying tone of stubbornness that you could hear when Strole voiced out Luna's dialogues. Despite her inexperience, Luna was selfless and fierce when it came to helping others and she kind of brought Fowler's humanity back.

James Fouhey as Fowler was phenomenal even! Fowler was a pretty moody and rough character. He had this standoffish aspect since in this world, you're on your own and if you care about someone then the harder it is to keep yourself alive. And Fowler, he tries extremely hard to fight against his growing feelings for Luna. And though his character was a little sarcastic and gruff, Fowler was a dreamer. He dreamed of travelling to a land where there are no Dwellers to eat you off. And when Fouhey narrated Fowler's POV, he really did an amazing job at changing his usual gruff tone to something filled with a little more longing and hope when Fowler talked about the land with no dwellers. You really needed to pry Fowler open to realize that he was a kind person but he had hardened his heart due to the hostile environments around him and that's what made him come across as mean sometimes.

I thought maybe i'd have trouble with keeping up with the pacing or maybe at times i'd get bored but i really didn't! The pacing was smooth and really accelerated when the characters were in tense situations so you could clearly feel the angst and the sense of urgency.

Quality wise i have absolutely no complaints! Zilch! It was perfect! The quietness in the background really implemented the endless night setting of the story. The voices was clear and the pronunciations were perfect! I never had to replay a something to check if i heard right.

My only complaint would be with the book itself NOT the audiobook. The book was a little short and i needed more of the plot!! It was super interesting but it just finished way too soon! Thank god book 2 just came out! It had EXCELLENT world building! Just not enough of a plot development and i saw the twists coming from a long time back. But still it was a really good book! I'd read it all again just to immerse myself into that world again!

So since the audiobook was absolutely perfect it deserves a 5 stars!

As for the book i'm gonna give it 4 stars because it still needed a little more...
